Clamecy in Burgundy

Small town southern from the Yonne district and northern from the Nièvre district, Clamecy lies in the Vaux (the meanders) of the Yonne river, at the gates of the Morvan Natural Park, between Auxerre and Vezelay. A lanscape crossed by the Canal du Nivernais, the last heritage vestige of the past inland waterways. A Hiking and Biking route over 110 miles long.

Nestled in the wooded vineyards of Burgundy, Clamecy, calm and nonchalant, offers walks through the old streets in the surrounding countryside, and gives free rein to dreams and the sweetness of life by the Canal du Nivernais. In summer, the Perthuis’ Music Festival animates every evening cafés sidewalks and let discover the talents of tomorrow.

On Saint-Jacques of Compostela’s road, walkers and hikers will pass by Clamecy’s Heritage College Church within the historical area.
Visit Romain Roland’s Museum and let yourself be guided through the small streets between the half-timbered houses. Burgundy hosts a rich and varied heritage, from Auxerre to Nevers, the home of the Dukes of Burgundy. Make a stop by the Loire, at the Charité sur Loire, and discover the treasures of medieval architecture while tasting the best wines of Burgundy.
The recent ’vélo-route“ reserved to cyclists will lead you from Clamecy to Auxerre or Tanay, Corbigny and beyond… You will discover numerous walks and sites whose beauty will reinvigorate you with new energy
